Modern vehicles generally have advanced lighting control units which often require a filament lamp load for their lamp monitoring function.

This becomes a problem when LED lighting modules are used.

Dummy loads are designed to replicate the load produced by a standard filament lamp, in order to 'trick' the lighting control unit into thinking there is a lamp connected.
