What is the purpose / benefit of wiring the push button switch for Start Assist Feature?
permalink Hi Stephen,
Thanks for your inquiry.

The purpose of the Start Assist feature is to allow charge to pass from your auxiliary battery to your start battery in order to help it start if your start battery is low on charge. In this situation we recommend pushing and holding the Start Assist button for around 20 seconds to allow the start battery to accept a bit of charge and then, whilst still holding the pushbutton, start your vehicle.

In some instances it may be useful to set the Start Assist feature to an ignition controlled relay, so you always start from both batteries. You would do this if you had a high current draw on start up in your vehicle. Tech Tip

Also, you can use the Start Assist feature to link both batteries for winching. All you need to do is connect the blue wire to a standard relay, and have the relay triggered by a positive input from the winch switch. Tech Tip
